Amazing Home-Style Singaporean Food at Hello Miss Dong

[This venue has since closed as the owner has relocated to Singapore]

Located in the quiet side of Yongkang Lu, Hello Miss Dong really is one of the few remaining restaurants that offer a Quality, Delicious and Value meal in Shanghai.

They offer an extremely selective menu where all recipes are personally curated by the Simgaporean owner and food critic The Shanghai Kid, Fred. Go there with 6-8 people and order every single item on the menu!

My personal favorites definitely were the Bak kut teh, a rich pork soup which was bursting with intense flavor, and the curry chicken, whose sauce was some of the freshest I’ve tried.

We also had the potato frittata, with freshly shredded potatoes that are religiously fried on the moment, the melt-in-your-mouth braised pork, shrimp paste fried pork (the chicken was finished the evening we went and Fred suggested he made the pork cutlet instead… It was great so no complaints there) and a tasty plate of morning glory. All dishes are on point, freshly prepared and delicious.

Bill came down to 130 RMB per person, including a 48 RMB Belgian beer per person and a couple other drinks. If you’re looking for honest, delicious and authentic Singaporean food, I highly suggest you head over to Hello Miss Dong.

Great Food, Great Value.
